Automatically grade to any selected standard size or to made-to-measure size parameters from a table of measurements, which you enter to define critical pattern dimensions. This can be for a range of sizes or to match a single set of personal body dimensions. The "mystiques" (and mistakes) of manual pattern grading are "blown away" with FashionCAD.

Create your design using the FashionCAD design module and insert the FashionCAD "control points" or nodes at the main points which determine the basic sizes or dimensions of a garment pattern. Then you can grade this pattern piece with FashionCAD. You only need to specify the distances between a few major points and FashionCAD will work out the changes for every point along all lines and curves, between these "control points".

You can take one single pattern design and grade to say 5 or 10 other sizes in just a few seconds. Or you can set up a personalised measurements file for yourself, or each of your clients, and then grade the pattern piece to fit exactly those measurements you have defined.

From a standard Women's Pants block as on the right - by adjusting the measurement distances you can create a high waisted pants pattern in a different size but in the same style or by adjusting the hip to waist and other basic measurements you can create hipster pants with flared bottoms. - see below......

The numbered points are the Control Points used in this pattern to provide ultimate control of its size and grading. For example increasing the measurement distances between points 1 to 4, 1 to 10, and points 21 to 24, 21 to 30, would increase the hip size.

You could simplify the pattern (and have less Control Points) but you will have less ability to control its fit and sizing.

You can make FashionCAD grade the way you want to create a specific size or range of sizes - BUT far more accurately, quickly and with a lot less effort.

Demonstration - audio-visual movie files

Download the audio visual "movie" of a live pattern grading session. ( Please remember that these only show processes on a simple pattern piece which is to achieve reasonable file sizes and hence to keep the download time as short as possible.)

The '95/'98 audio visual demonstrations are created with Lotus ScreenCam & are self contained. The demo movies for "other" Windows are created to run using Windows Media Player or QuickTime.

Download Instructions :-

1. Click on download "disk" and save the file to your download directory on your hard disk.
- The demo files are compressed into self extracting executables to minimise download time.

2. Use Windows explorer to locate the downloaded file and "double-click" on it to 'uncompress' the demonstration file contained within the download. Select 'OK', then 'UNZIP' and then when the file is extracted select 'CLOSE' .

3. Use Windows explorer to go to directory C:\FASHIONCAD\FCADDEMO then "Double-click" on the uncompressed demonstration file to run the audio visual demo. - Remember to turn on your speakers and increase the volume until you can hear the commentary - again to minimise file sizes and hence to keep the download time as short as possible the audio quality has been 'optimised' for small file size.
